A big part of profitable tipping is looking for value which often comes from horses who didn’t win last start and perhaps had bad luck and their performance has flown under the radar. Here are a couple to add to your Blackbook to follow next start!
MR PINEAPPLES BLACKBOOKERS
Poison Chalice
Contested a Group 2 and then went back to maiden grade at Geelong, had the rails run but 200m out looked to be boxed in badly, the jockey had to pull back and get out and the leader who was 5L ahead looked to have the race won until Poison Chalice showed a crazy turn of foot to make up about 5-6L in the space of the final 100m and won, this horse will go through the grades and contest some good races. With clear running it would have won by 6-7 lengths easily.
Hedged
There was a bit of track bias at the Valley and this Mick Price & Michael Kent trained gelding produced the fastest final 200m of the meeting and is one to follow next start, perhaps over further than 1000m
Smashing Eagle
This 4yo gelding drew barrier 11 and simply had no room and couldn’t get out in time to win at Randwick last start over 1100m after settling down 2nd last but absolutely flew over the final 100m and is definately one to follow up next start and if it draws a better barrier and can settle somewhere midfield or just get clear running when it counts it will be winning.
Interpretation
Ran in the Melbourne Cup last year so 1600m 1st up was never going to be this 5yo geldings race to win however he seems to have come back in great order, settling at the tail he produced the fastest final 200m to finish 3rd only 2L behind the winner The Sunmit who’s benchmark figures were the best of the day 11 lengths faster than standard so Interpretation is certainly one to follow up 2nd/3rd/4th up as he progresses this prep!
Time Quest
Has been frustrating from a betting perspective so far, two starts ago simply was ridden too far back and flew home and then Blake Shinn jumped back on board last start and simply ran into one better, they gapped 3rd that race and Time Quest will be winning soon!
