WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Russel Henley $21, 1 unit
Henley should have won this tournament in 2021. He entered the final round with a three-stroke lead only to miss out on the six-man playoff entirely with one last short miss on the 72nd hole. Henley kept his head and returned with a T5 effort in 2022 to continue a three-year stretch of top 10s at this event. He has since gone on to win at Mayakoba earlier this season and looks to have the goods to contend once again as he ranks second in strokes gained tee to green and third in strokes gained approach over the last three months.
Denny Mccarthy $26, 1 unit
Don’t let the missed cut at The Open fool you — McCarthy is close to entering the winner’s circle. Before his short trip to England, the 30-year-old was rolling with quality starts at the John Deere Classic, Travelers Championship and U.S. Open. All of this followed his near miss at the Memorial where he fell to Viktor Hovland in a playoff. McCarthy boasts three top-25 finishes in his last four Wyndham showings and possesses a similar statistical profile as past champions Tom Kim, Kevin Kisner and Jim Herman. He leads this field in total strokes gained over the last three months.
Adam Scott $34, 1 unit
Former world No.1 Scott needs a minimum of a two-way tie for ninth at the Wyndham to have a chance to move into the top 70 who progress to next week’s FedEx St Jude Championship in Memphis. A three-way tie for third, according to tour projections, would all but guarantee the Queenslander a spot in the playoffs opener.
Scott has a solid history in the playoffs, with a win at the Barclays during the opening event of the 2013 FedEx Cup finals. He finished tied for fifth in two of the playoffs stops last year. The 43-year-old also has a good record at the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club at Greensboro, North Carolina. In 2021, he fired his way into a sudden-death playoff and missed a five-foot putt to win on the first extra hole, finishing tied second.
